Necessarily we operate a reasonable sized club by the good nature and hard work of the parents, coaches and siblings involved. As such we are a volunteer organisation that needs commitment from parents to run. A few clarifications of the rules and expectations are listed below:
Responsible Parent Attendance
This is mandated by our compound and a function of the liability for any accidents. No designated parent or guardian, no swim. Repeated offenders will be removed from the team without refund. So please be ready to commit.
Duties at Swim Meetings
We operate a rotating duty roster at swim meets. When you register for a meet your name gets selected for various duties at the meet. This is done on a pro-rata based on number of children swimming. Again no duty, no swim. As per our first rule, repeated missed duties without notification risk loss of your club membership.
Training Attendance
We expect +/- 65% training attendance for swimmers. We appreciate this is not always possible, but missing training shows lack of interest or commitment, and takes places from others who may be more committed. Therefore please keep the club secretary and chairperson notified if there is any problem or issue with attending training.
Swim Meeting Attendance
We expect attendance at > 50% of meets. This is really a minimum. This shows commitment and meets the club's goals of remaining a competitive team. Regular missing of meetings without due notification will risk membership. In addition repeated no shows at meets is embarrassing and puts the team in disrepute. Likewise membership is at risk.
Behaviour of Swimmers and Siblings (and Adults!)
It goes without saying but we have to remind members of their responsibility to act in appropriate manner at all times at training, on the compound and at meets. Any diversion can result and expulsion from pool or meet and loss of membership.
Finally, we did absolutely fantastic last year - 2014 to 2015 - so thank you to all parents, coaches, swimmers who made it happen. Let's go for it again this year and beat our records from last!!! Good luck all and Go ..... Lasers!
